One of the Greece's most magical islands, Zakynthos also referred to as Zante and sometimes spelled Zakinthos, or Zacinto is found in the south of the Ionian, to the west of the Peloponesse located on the mainland attracting thousands of tourists each year. The island of Zante has notably become a flora and fauna wonderland with sea turtles, snorkelling haunts, underwater caves, mountain trekking and spectacular sandy beaches there is so much on offer for those wandering on-land and sailing her shores.

A popular attraction is the Loggerhead sea turtle, particularly around the protected marine zones of Laganas Bay. From May to the middle of August six beaches become nesting areas for the female turtles. Venture to Daphni, Gerakas, East Laganas, Kalamaki, Marathonissi and Sekania and enjoy an organised tour to see the hatchlings. Zakynthos is also famous for its wide, sandy stretches of beach notably Navagio Beach or Shipwreck bay due to the vessel that has remained on the beach since 1983. Surrounded by a stunning white cliff backdrop the beach can is best accessed by water-taxi from Porto Vromi. Water-sport enthusiasts can enjoy all activities from the beach of Agios Nikolaos or for a less lively atmosphere, the famed Gerakas beach is one of Greece's best.
